Lockdown Song Contest 2021
2021 is really off to a flying start! Every time you turn on the news, check your social feed or similar you learn of new mutations, restrictions and other horrors lurking in the dark. Not fun, especially when you’re locked up at home, with no gigs either to play or watch.
So, what do you do? Keep doomscrolling? Yes, we all do that. BUT… As a musician, you can also spend your time creating music! And that’s exactly the reason we decided to release a new free groove pack: To inspire and kick-start the creative process of writing and recording music.The Lockdown 2 Pack
It’s been just over two weeks since we released The Lockdown Pack 2. So far, the response has been overwhelming, with many more downloads than we expected, lots of super nice comments and 5-star reviews. Thank you!
So, now that you have the new pack, the time has come to announce The OddGrooves Lockdown Song Contest 2021!
The rules
The contest rules are pretty straightforward: Write and record an original song, with only grooves from the Lockdown 2 pack as the drum track. You may edit the grooves, re-arrange the sequence, quantize the snot out of them, re-amp them through a 1959 Marshall Plexi, double them with a marimba or whatever. Layer some wicked 808 samples with a Bonham-style Ludwig Oyster kit. I could go on, but you get the picture. Originality and creativity will be rewarded!
You have until Sunday, February 21 to complete the track and send the finished file to me ([email protected]) in a listenable format. I’ll then put all of the tracks together in a playlist on our Soundcloud account for the world to enjoy. And you will have the chance to win the prizes listed below!
The prizes
At the end of the competition, the all-mighty jury (Magnus and I, with possible influence from our wives) will retire to our chambers and select 3 happy winners.
- First prize wins a 100 dollar coupon at oddgrooves.com plus a custom drum track recorded by Magnus (or a custom guitar track recorded by me if you would like that instead of drums).
- Second prize is a 100 dollar coupon at oddgrooves.com.
- Third prize is a 50 dollar coupon at oddgrooves.com.
