Thanks Per!
Pop….finally…thank you 🙂
Thank you!
do you have any tips for using your midi files with ableton’s various drum racks?
usually i start with a transpose to try to nail down bass and snare. the other elements i fine tune by selecting all similar notes and using up or down to ‘try’ them with different hats, percussion etc.
this method is kind of hit and miss though.
are the original instrument names stored anywhere in the midi file?
Hi Kimyo,
I’m not an Ableton user, but as far as understand it, drum racks is simply a container for samples or other sound sources.
First of all, I’d go with the General MIDI version of our grooves as it is the most standardised mapping and has the fewest kit variations.
There should be a way to load a standard GM map in Ableton, but if there isn’t, you can create your own:
https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000038859-Making-custom-MIDI-Mappings
Here’s the GM drum map:

If you email me I’ll try to help any way I can!
